It culminated in the signing of the Treaty of Córdoba on August 24, 1821, which recognized Mexico’s independence from Spain.

This design shows Victory in a slight right-profile relief with a laurel crown held high in her right hand as her left clutches a set of broken chains. The crown represents self-governance while the broken chains represent freedom from oppression.
